Wanna work with me?
After selling my restaurants, I never believed this would happen; I am too busy. AND I am hiring.
Between spending far more time with my family, writing, reading, and building a YouTube channel AND a Substack, my days seem to have shrunk to a brief moment between bringing in the kids and cooking dinner for the family. I am now faced with the exact same reality as when I was simultaneously the CEO of a company, a chef, baker, pizzaiolo, and wannabe farmer; I need to PRIORITIZE. This, as you might imagine, is my Achilles.
I love learning new things, and therefore I have become exceptionally good at it, which makes it even more fun and, in turn, keeps me from doing whatever sensible thing I should have done instead. I am easily distracted by problems that seem to need solving, even when, in reality, someone could solve them for me. I tell myself I must understand the process first, but alas, that is not the whole truth; I am greedy as hell when it comes to acquiring knowledge. It is my favorite kind of adventure, which I love to share, but hate to give away.
I have been on YouTube for about 6 months, and I am equally amazed by its potential and overwhelmed by its complexity and promise. I have many thoughts and ideas to share, and while my relationship with Social Media swings from excitement to resentment, unfortunately, I have to live with it to shape a desirable future for myself.
I have spent a lot of time editing videos, and I am getting the hang of it, and yes, it’s fun, but I must accept that someone could do a much better job at it. What murders me at the moment is to satisfy my own idea of repurposing and committing to all the various platforms out there. Coordinating, posting, reposting, and all that jazz is a different skillset than editing, but both should be done by people truly good at it, and leave me time to do what I really want to do: write and think.
I’m looking for two people:
A video editor — someone who can help shape long-form, vlog-style conversations, monologues, and philosophical essays into tight YouTube videos, and pull short clips for Reels and Shorts. You should understand pacing and storytelling. Talking-head and interview-style content is your home territory. An understanding of who I am and what I come from is preferable.
A social media manager — someone who handles distribution, scheduling, captions, and cross-platform consistency. I want to show up and write. Everything else should run without me. Again, it is very helpful if you know my story.
Both are part-time.
If that’s work you want to be part of, reach out.
If you know someone who could be a fit - please share!
Oh - and here is the most recent Youtube video:
